These earrings have been inspired by these pre-columbian ones.
These type of earrings have been found in different ancient pre-columbian societies such as Maya, Aztec and Inca, but these specific one come from Columbia and they are fully made of gold. The name "crescent moon" has been given to them by the archaeologists because of their shape which resembles the way ancient people used to depict the moon not only in America, but also in Egypt and Mesopotamia. Most of the ancient societies used to measure time not following the cycle of the sun, but following the cycle of the moon, therefore the moon was a very important symbol for them.
My tribute to these mysterious and fascinating societies are these earrings 100% cotton and 100% handmade with an an-allergic stainless steel stud.
These earrings CAN NOT be WET because they have been starched to keep their shape, so please be careful wearing them at the beach and take them off before having a shower or a bath. If they actually get wet: dry them flat, iron them (cotton can be ironed at high temperature too) and starch them with some hairspray (yes, it works!)
