My name is Maria Chiara, and through Birch Knots Design, I weave memory, symbolism, and ancient gestures into creations that tell a story — even before they adorn.

I’m a craftswoman.
I create objects rooted in meaning and vision, for those who don’t quite fit into the noise of the world, but rather belong to its quiet, intimate rhythm.

My Journey

My love for creating began as a teenager, when I made hair clips and accessories for my school friends.
Then came years of study and the desire to follow a “right” and safe path. I earned a degree in languages — but never fully felt at home in that world.

After a difficult time, I moved to London. There, surrounded by fabrics and the refined atmosphere of a luxury fashion store, I rekindled the creative spark.
When I returned to Italy, I decided to truly follow that inner voice: I enrolled in Fashion and Costume Studies in Rome, where I graduated with a thesis on footwear design.

In 2023, I finally brought a long-held dream to life: I opened my artisan studio.
Today, I design accessories that speak of roots, beauty, and transformation. Like me, each piece carries a journey — and perhaps, a little bit of yours too.
